April 27 (4 Iyar, according to the Jewish calendar) - Yom HaZikaron, Memorial Day for the Fallen Soldiers of Israel and Victims of Terrorism, which is celebrated annually on the eve of Independence Day of the State of Israel.

Holding Yom HaZikaron on the eve of Israel Independence Day is extremely symbolic, because it recalls the price the country has to pay for its freedom and independence. On this day, the memory of soldiers who fell in the Arab-Israeli wars, policemen, representatives of security services, fighters of the Jewish Brigade who fought during World War II, members of Jewish underground organizations, operating in Palestine until the creation of the State of Israel in 1948, is honored. The counting of the dead has been going on since 1860, which is considered the time when the Jews began to fight for the creation of their country. On this day, the memory of civilians who died at the hands of terrorists is also honored. Every year, on the initiative of the Israeli Cultural Center and with the participation of “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies, Memorial Ceremonies for Yom HaZikaron, during which a mourning siren sounds and candles are lit to commemorate those who died, just like in Israel, take place in Dnipro. Today, we also honor those killed in wars and victims of terror - even remotely.

Remember.
