PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

September 30 – October 2 International Conference “Contested Memories of the Difficult Past. Eastern Europe and Its History of the 20th Century” was conducted in Kyiv. The event was organized by the German Federal Agency for Civic Education. The conference gathered leading Holocaust and the Second World War researchers from around the world. Dr. Igor Shchupak, “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum director, was also invited to participate in the event.

During his speech within the section “The Topicality of the Holocaust” Dr. Igor Shchupak noted that the Holocaust should be considered in the context of international (European), national (Ukrainian) and Jewish history and described how this topic is presents in Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” in Dnipro. 

 

 

 

During September 20-23, 2016 University of Hamburg (Germany) hosted the 51st meeting of German historians. In the framework of this event the regular meeting of the Ukrainian-German historical commission was conducted with participation of Dr. Igor Shchupak, “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum director.

June 26-28, 2016 Ukrainian Catholic University hosted summer convention of Association for Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies (ASEEES) and International Association for the Humanities (MAG). The event was attended by more than 500 participants from all over the world.

In June 8-10, 2016 POLIN Museum (Warsaw) hosted International Conference “Jewish Cultural Heritage: Projects, Methods, Inspirations”. Dr.Igor Shchupak, “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies and Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” Director, was invited to participate in the Conference.

On May 16-17, 2016 Riga (Latvia) hosted the 4th International Conference “Holocaust Museums and Memorial Places in Post-Communist Countries: Challenges and Opportunities”, organized by “Shamir” Association, Baltic International Tolerance Center, Riga Ghetto Museum. Vladyslav Bazylevsky and Iryna Radchenko, “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum Research Associates, were invited to participate in the conference and presented banners of Educational Mobile Exhibitions dedicated to the Holocaust history.
