PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

"Tkuma" Institute has experience in organization and conduction of educational events for school and university students, school teachers. In cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, regional institutes of advanced teacher training, "Tkuma" Institute organized special system of seminars for improvement of teachers' skills.

"Tkuma" Institute has unique experience in creating textbooks. School History textbooks created by "Tkuma" Institute won All-Ukrainian State Contests and were released in hundreds of thousands of copies.

"Tkuma" Institute effectively cooperates with regional office of Junior Academy of Sciences. On the base of "Tkuma" Institute winter and summer sessions of JAS are conducted. During this events school students have an opportunity to work with the Holocaust museum holdings, consult the Institute and Museum research associates and meet famous Ukrainian and foreign scholars.

On October 26, 2016 regular seminar of “Tkuma” Institute in cooperation with Dnipro Regional Institute of Advanced Teacher Training was conducted. During the event conducted by Iryna Piskariova, “Tkuma” Institute Educational Programs Coordinator, history teachers got acquainted with new approaches to the study of history in secondary schools and features of Holocaust education, taking into account the age characteristics of students.

On October 11, 2016 “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum Research Programs Coordinator Iegor Vradii conducted several lessons dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Babyn Yar tragedy at secondary school #132 (Dnipro).

Final of the 13th International Contest for Pupils, Students and Teachers “Lessons of War and Holocaust – Lessons of Tolerance”

On September 23-25, 2016 Kyiv hosted final events of the 13th International Creative Works Contest “Lessons of War and Holocaust – Lessons of Tolerance”. It is permanent project of “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies. This year the Contest was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Babyn Yar tragedy and was conducted simultaneously with series of large-scale events organized by UJE, “Tkuma” Institute, the Holocaust Museum, other leading educational and research institutions of Ukraine.

Participants from almost all regions of Ukraine, including Luhansk and Crimea, as well as from Belarus had sent their projects. 24 history, Ukrainian language, literature teachers as well as 29 school students became this year’s finalists.

On September 26, 2016 “Tkuma” Institute conducted educational mobile exhibition presentation at secondary school of Boyarka city of Kyiv region. The exhibition presentation was devoted to the 75th anniversary of Babyn Yar tragedy.

On September 11, 2016 “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum hosted seminar for history teachers of Dnipro region devoted to teaching the history of Holocaust, Holodomor and other genocides. Valentina Kuryliw, Head of Education at Holodomor Research and Education Consortium run by Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies (Toronto, Canada), shared Canadian experience in teaching these topics.
