PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

"Tkuma" Institute has experience in organization and conduction of educational events for school and university students, school teachers. In cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, regional institutes of advanced teacher training, "Tkuma" Institute organized special system of seminars for improvement of teachers' skills.

"Tkuma" Institute has unique experience in creating textbooks. School History textbooks created by "Tkuma" Institute won All-Ukrainian State Contests and were released in hundreds of thousands of copies.

"Tkuma" Institute effectively cooperates with regional office of Junior Academy of Sciences. On the base of "Tkuma" Institute winter and summer sessions of JAS are conducted. During this events school students have an opportunity to work with the Holocaust museum holdings, consult the Institute and Museum research associates and meet famous Ukrainian and foreign scholars.

On May 31, 2016 “Tkuma” Institute in cooperation with Dnipropetrovsk Regional Institute of Advanced Teacher Training organized and conducted regular seminar of Holocaust history teaching for teachers of Dnipropetrovsk region.

On May 23-28, 2016 on the base of Jewish Museum Berlin educational seminar was conducted the event was organized by “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies, Jewish Museum Berlin and Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” under the support of General Consulate of Germany in Ukraine. Museum educators, history teachers and educators of different institutions of Ukraine became the participants of the event.

On May 9-11, 2016 in Vilnius on the base of World Jewish Congress International Yiddish Center the seminar “Pearls of Yiddish Culture” was conducted. Ukrainian teachers and educators as well as “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum Educational Department staff became the participants of the seminar.

On April 28, 2016 on the base of Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” museum lesson for pupils of the gymnasium #11 (Dniprodzerzhynsk) was conducted. Pupils of 6-7 forms joined guided tour through the Holocaust Museum exhibitions conducted by Iryna Radchenko and Lyudmyla Sandul. The main attention during the guided tour was paid to Ukrainian-Jewish relations; they described the examples of inter-ethnic help and cooperation in particular during World War II and the Holocaust. During the lesson pupils also learned about new exhibitions that are under development and worked with the Holocaust Museum funds.

On April 27–29, 2016 Kyiv hosted All-Ukrainian Scholarly-Practical Seminar “Creative Work, Methodological Developments, Author Training Manuals and Their Use in the Teaching WWII and the Holocaust History” for teachers organized by “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies, Ukrainian Institute of National Memory under the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

The seminar lasted three days and focused on wide range of questions related to World War II and the Holocaust history as well as implementation of new ideas and approaches in teaching these topics.
