On May 24, “Tkuma” Institute hosted a presentation of a collection of student scientific works “HISTORICAL STUDIES - FOR THE PRESENT”, which contains the works of the winners and the best works on the history of World War II and interethnic relations of regional stage of the contest of students-members of Junior Academy of Sciences 2020, Department of History. 45 students from educational institutions of the region took part in the contest, 21 participants won prizes.

May 18 - Day of Remembrance of Crimean Tatar Deportation Victims. At least 180,000 people were deported during the main wave of deportations (May 18-20, 1944). Since 2021, May 14 has been marked as the Remembrance Day of Ukrainians who rescued Jews during World War II. This date was set by a special Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine as a sign of respect for Ukrainian rescuers, their compassion and solidarity.

On May 7, 1945, the Act of Military Surrender of Germany was signed, which entered into force on May 8 at 11:01 p.m. The peoples of Europe, the United States and Canada celebrated the end of the war, VE-Day.
