"Tkuma" Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies conducts international scholarly conferences, releases scholarly literature (monographs, scholarly journal, textbooks, manuals, collections of documents and memoirs, etc.), coordinates and implements important research projects.

One of the main "Tkuma" Institute research topics is the feat of Righteous Among the Nations who rescued Jews during the Holocaust risking their own lives and lives of their families.

The mechanism of the Nazi "final solution of the Jewish question" in occupied Ukraine, problems of international relations during the World War II, the Holocaust, resistance etc. hold the important place in "Tkuma" Institute research.

Among "Tkuma" Institute publications issued in the first half of 2015 there are: new issue of the scholarly journal "Holocaust Studies", collection of memoirs "Reviving Memory", Proceedings of the International Scholarly Conference "Righteous and Other Rescuers during the Holocaust: Ukraine's Example in Comparative Context", album of photographs and documents "Nazi New Order in Ukrainian Cities" and others. We plan to release books on the Holocaust in Ukraine, the phenomenon of Righteous Among the Nations, research on regional aspects of the Holocaust.

"Tkuma" Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies closely and effectively cooperates with research, museum and archival institutions from Ukraine, Austria, Belarus, Canada, Germany, Israel, Moldova, Polans, Russia, the USA, Sweden, etc.


 

During October 22–24, 2018 Munich hosted the 4th Annual conference of German-Ukrainian Historical Commission. The theme of the scholarly forum was defined as “Germany and Ukraine in the Second World War”.

On June 13-14, 2018 Warsaw hosted International Scholarly Conference “Official History in Eastern Europe. Transregional Perspectives”, organized by the German Historical Institute Warsaw, University of Geneva, the Forum Transregionale Studien Berlin. Dr. Denys Shatalov, deputy head of Museum and Research Department, was invited to join the discussion.

May 27, 2018, Drohobych welcomed All-Ukrainian Scholarly and Practical Conference “Ukrainian-Polish-Jewish Relations in Eastern Galicia (the first half of the XX c.): historical experience, lessons for the present”. The event was organized by Drohobych Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University, Uzhhorod National University and “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies.

On December 6-8, 2017 Warsaw hosted International Conference “The Nations Occupied Europe Facing the Holocaust”, organized by the Institute of National Remembrance of Poland. Leading scholars – researchers of the history of the Holocaust from Germany, Italy, Finland, Denmark, Spain, Portugal, Ukraine and other countries became the participants of scholarly event. Dr. Igor Shchupak, director of “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum, was invited to participate in this conference as well.

During October 9-14, 2017 Berlin welcomed educational seminar for educators, organized by "Tkuma" Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies, Museum "Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine" together with Jewish Museum Berlin and other partners under the support of Consulate General of Federal Republic of Germany in Donetsk / Dnipro office. Within the seminar participants visited JMB, meet Educational Department staff and discussed educational and academy programs.
