PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

During June 21–23, “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies participated in the International Book Festival “Book Space-2019”, organized in Dnipro on the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration initiative.

On June 21, researchers of “Tkuma” Institute presented new editions devoted to World history, World War II and the Holocaust in Ukraine and Europe history. Valentyn Rybalka, presented a collective monograph “The Holocaust in Dnipropetrovsk”, devoted to mass destruction of our city Jews during World War II. Iryna Radchenko presented a new book by historians O. Kruglov and A. Umansky “Babyn Yar: victims, rescuers, executioners”, in which the initial stage of the Nazis repressive occupation policy in Kyiv was reconstructed, in particular, the training and destruction of Kyiv Jews in the Babyn Yar. Maryna Strilchuk presented to the public a monograph by Prof. O. Davletov “Preparing “Generation of Wolves”: Training Future Holocaust Executors”, where the author examined the main preconditions, ideological components, directions, forms and methods of educational and propaganda influence of the Nazis on the Germany youth. Iryna Piskarova, head of “Tkuma” Institute educational department made a presentation of educational editions – Dr. Igor Shchupak textbook “World History” for students of 10th forms and “Introduction to history” (the authors – O. Burlaka, I. Piskarova, I. Shchupak), told about the most interesting of these editions.

Dr. Yehor Vradii, deputy director of “Tkuma” Institute and Museum "Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine" was the moderator of the events. He also presented another edition – new issue of the scientific journal “Problems of the Holocaust history: Ukrainian Dimension”. This is a refereed annual journal with articles from scholars from Ukraine, Israel, and the United States, devoted to various aspects of the Holocaust and its memory history.
