PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

On October 19, 2017 at the age of 63, as a result of car accident, Valentyna Beketova, Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Deputy Director of D.I. Yavornytsky Dnipro National Historical Museum, tragically died. “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum staff expresses sincere condolences to relatives and friends of Valentyna Beketova.

Valentyna Beketova graduated from Dnipro secondary school № 74 in 1971. From February 1972 to 1977 worked at Senior Technician. In 1978 graduated from Dnipropetrovsk State University in the specialty “History”. From April 1977 worked in the Dnipro Historical Museum at the positions of senior researcher of the Department of Contemporary History, academic secretary of the museum, and since January 1996 – Deputy Director for Scholarly Work.

She was respected by the team and colleagues of other museums; she has repeatedly been awarded the certificates of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, various authorities (regional council, regional state administration) and public organizations. She was awarded the Honorary Diploma of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, and in 2004 she received commemorative medal of the City Council “For the Faithful Service to the Hometown” for her significant contribution to the development of the museum business. In 2009 she was awarded the honorary title “Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine”.

Colleagues will remember her not only as a scholar and an experienced museum worker, but also as an active and multilateral person. She sewed beautifully, collected dolls, she was loving mother, wife, caring grandmother. In our memory, she will remain as a bright, cheerful person, friendly and positively minded, who will always support and give advice.
