On January 23-25, “Tkuma” Institute, with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, held an All-Ukrainian scientific and practical seminar for history teachers in Lviv, dedicated to the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The lessons of World War II help to understand the essence of Russia's current aggression against Ukraine; and the “classic” example of genocide – the Holocaust – provides a methodological basis for understanding the modern genocide against the Ukrainian people.

On January 27, “Tkuma” Institute held an educational event for the public of Odesa, dedicated to the International Holocaust Remembrance. Yuliana Omelchenko, long-term director of the library greeted the participants in M. Hrushevsky regional scientific library. Yaroslava Riznikova, head of the department of culture, nationalities and religions of the Department of Culture, Nationalities, Religions and Protection of Cultural Heritage Objects of the Odesa Regional State Administration, delivered a meaningful report on models of preserving the memory of the Holocaust in Ukraine and other countries.
Dr. Igor Shchupak's speech was devoted to the universal significance of the Holocaust memory in the context of other genocides. Historian and public figure, founder of the Odesa Museum of the Holocaust Pavlo Kozlenko spoke about the creation of a new genocide museum “Territory of Memory” in Odesa. Among the meaningful components of the Museum's exposition is the story of the Armenian Genocide of 1915, the Holodomor of 1932-1933, the Holocaust, the genocide against the Roma, the deportation of the Crimean Tatar people, and the modern genocide against the Ukrainian people, which is carried out by the leadership and armed forces of the Russian Federation. “It is a great honor for me,” said Dr. Shchupak, “that I was invited to participate in the development and implementation of this unique and large-scale project. On January 22, Ukrainians around the world commemorate the 105th anniversary of the proclamation of the Act of Unification of the Ukrainian People's Republic and the West Ukrainian People's Republic. It was this event that marked the eternal desire of Ukrainians, who were subjects of various empires due to objective reasons, to their own Ukrainian Cathedral State.

On December 5-7, an All-Ukrainian scientific and practical seminar on the Holocaust history for history teachers and methodologists was held in Lviv, organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine together with “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies.

On the fourth Saturday of November, Ukraine and the world community will celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor of the Ukrainian people. On this occasion, on November 18, the Ukrainian American Cultural Center of New Jersey (USA) organized a special event – the screening of the film “The Red Necklace” and its discussion. Dr. Igor Shchupak was invited to participate in the discussion.
