PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

On March 01, opening of the annual debate tournament for high school students “Dnipro Open 2019”, organized by «New Vision» together with «Tkuma» Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies was held in Dnipro.

 Varius workshops on debatable technologies, including – English-speaking was held for the participants during three days of tournament. Research staff of «Tkuma» Institute and Museum «Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine» took an active part in implementing of the debatable tournament program. Guided tours to the Holocaust Museum and several workshops were held. Dr. Denys Shatalov, head of the research and museum department of «Tkuma» Institute, Valentyn Rybalka, researcher talked to children about the complex questions of collaboration during World War II and motives of human behavior.

 In parallel with the workshops work, the roundtable for teachers and trainers, moderator of which was Dr. Olena Ishchenko, researcher of «Tkuma» Institute was held. They discussed the problems of the historical memory of the Holocaust in Ukraine, the peculiarities of teaching this topic during school history lessons. Iryna Piskariova, head of educational department of «Tkuma» Institute presented new editions on the history of World War II and the Holocaust, and told about educational opportunities for teachers and schoolchildren.
