“Tkuma” Institute and “Orion” Center for Historical Studies have resumed a series of “historical webinars”! On February 26, a meeting was held on the topic “From Oliver Cromwell to Bohdan Khmelnytsky”, the guest of which was the famous scientist, candidate of historical sciences, senior researcher at the Institute of History of Ukraine of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, initiator of the popular science project “Historical Educational Program” Kyrylo Galushko. The event was moderated by the director of “Tkuma” Institute, Dr. Igor Shchupak.
The webinar discussed key issues of early modern history, including:
- What is the connection between the Great Geographical Discoveries and the Cossack Revolution of the mid-17th century?
- How are the political systems of England, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and Ukraine of the early modern era similar and different?
And in general, how does history influence modernity?
Special attention was paid to new history textbooks for grade 8, the author team of which is headed by Ihor Shchupak, and the co-author and scientific editor is Kyrylo Galushko.
The webinar format included a discussion between historians and interactive communication with participants, who were able to ask questions and express their opinions. We thank everyone who joined us, and we invite you to participate in future webinars!
