PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

On February 2, the Final stage of II (regional) All-Ukrainian Contest-Defense of students scholarly research works of Dnipro department of Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the “History” section was held at Oles Honchar Dnipro National University on the base of the Historical department.

Serhii Svitlenko, professor, head of the Historical department of Oles Honchar Dnipro National University, Dr. Svitlana Kaiuk, associate professor of Oles Honchar Dnipro National University, department of history of Ukraine, Natalia Tiahlo, director of “Junior Academy of Science of Schoolchildren Youth of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council” municipal after school educational institution, Dr. Oleh Boiko, academic secretary of Oles Honchar Dnipro National University, Dr. Igor Shchupak welcomed school students on the opening.

“Certainly, children impressed the most– intelligent, curious and very informed in their research topics – sometimes, we even can say, at a professional level, despite their age, - noted Dr. Shchupak, juryman of Historical section, - Deepest gratitude to the academic curators and parents of these children – because, it’s well known, how much time and soul were put in preparing of these researches. Topics were various: from Lawrence’s of Arabia beliefs to the King Arthur’s myth; from the history of janizary army to the A. Denikin’s and P. Vranhel’s White movement. Interesting researches related to various Holocaust history problems: Valeriia Startseva prepared the brilliant work devoted to one of the Nazi criminals – Georg von Bassovitz. Karyna Khotin presented the bright work devoted to the Stalin policy of the Holocaust suppression in the context of the USSR’s anti-Semitic policy.

Sofiia Cherednychenko’s work “Crimean Tatar fairy tales” became the best in the “Ethnology” section. The works of Varvara Moisieieva (about tolerance formation in perception of us-them), Anhelina Bondar (about Greeks of Azov), Tetiana Voloshynenko (about traditional Ukrainian decorations) were very interesting. Very pleased the randomness of research topics choice.

Sviatoslav Taranenko, Kyrylo Habor, Anastasiia Shtepka won in the “Archeology” section. My colleagues-historians and I learnt from young researchers some interesting historical details which were unknown before. The view of young scientists on certain historical events and phenomena was also very interesting.”

This year, as usual, “Tkuma” Institute together with Junior Academy of Sciences and Oles Honchar Dnipro National University is preparing for publication the collection of the best works of Academy winners, which is possible due to joint project of “Tkuma” Institute and Yad Vashem “Holocaust studies in Ukraine for the formation the atmosphere of tolerance”.
