PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

On October 15, 2015 in Kyiv the program “Seminarium” was launched. It is a series of discussions on various aspects of the Holodomor studies in Ukraine. The program was initiated by Holodomor Research and Education Consortium (Canada), Holodomor Ukrainian Research Center led by Dr Lyudmyla Hrynevych, and Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

The program started with discussion: “Understanding “Harvest Sorrow” by Robert Conquest after 29 years...”. Invited experts participated in the discussion, such as Andrea Graziosi (University of Napoli, Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Researches), Oleksandr Hladun, Natalya Levchuk (Institute of Demography of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine), Hennadiy Yefymenko (Institute of History of Ukraine, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine), Prof. Stanislav Kulchytsky (Institute of History of Ukraine, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine), Frank Sysyn (HREC, Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies).

By means Skype video conference was organized and “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum ResearchersIryna Radchenkoand Valentyn Rybalka were able to take part in discussions. They told about the concept of Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” and new exhibition devoted to the Holodomor. The exhibition is created in cooperation with the Holodomor Ukrainian Research Center and will tell us about the Holodomor of 1932-1933 and the less known cases of the Soviet regime artificial famine in the 20-30s. Also, it would be about Jews as victims of famine on the one hand, and Jews as its co-organizers and executors on the other, along with Ukrainians, Russians and others who were complicit in the Soviet repressive system.

Let us recall that the Agreement on cooperation between the Holocaust Museum and Holodomor Ukrainian Research Center was signed in June 2015 during the International Scholarly and Practical Seminar “Historical Memory about World War II, the Holocaust and Other Genocidal Phenomena” (Dnipropetrovsk).
