On February 11, the round table: “The Holodomor, the Holocaust: lessons of history”, organized on the initiative of All-Ukrainian monthly “Borysten” (the chief editor – Fidel Sukhonis) within in the framework of “Tkuma” Institute and Yad Vashem common project “Holocaust studies in Ukraine for the formation the atmosphere of tolerance”, was held in “Tkuma” Institute. Historians, journalists, representatives of Dnipro national communities became the participants of the event.

Iryna Reva (Museum “Dnipropetrovshchyna’s civil feat during ATO”) made an interesting presentation on the materials of the Ukrainian fighters’ survey as to motivation to risk life on the front and their family memories about the Holodomor tragedy. Prof. Oleksandr Nikiliev (Oles Honchar Dnipro National University) told about the archival documents, which witness about famine facts in national, in particular, Jewish districts of Ukraine during 1932-33.

The discussion about the historical myths and victimization complex, about the national egoism and the Righteous’ feat was held within the framework of the round table. “In order to understand lessons of history it is very important to tell not only about the victims, - mentioned Dr. Igor Shchupak. – It is necessary to talk about resistance – about those uprisings, which were during the Holodomor and the Holocaust – and about rescue. It is very important do not perceive evil and aggression as commonplace. Not less important to develop a countermeasure mechanism of possible repetition of genocide on a massive scale: both as to deterring the aggression and as to development of certain ideological and moral atmosphere in the society”.
