PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

During September 19-22, 2017, Dnipro welcomed all-Ukrainian workshop for heads of territorial offices of Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine “Modern Forms of Partnership Cooperation between JAS Educational Institutions in the Context of the Formation of Innovative Competencies of Teachers and Students”. Heads of all territorial offices of JAS, Head of JAS of Ukraine, and Heads of the Department of Education of Dnipropetrovsk Region discussed ways of attracting young people to scholarly, search, and creative work. Dr. Igor Shchupak, director of “Tkuma” Institute and Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” delivered a speech during the opening ceremony.

For “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum cooperation with JAS of extremely important, because development of the critical thinking of youth and scholarly analysis of problems is our common task, – noted Dr. Shchupak. What do we do together with JAS? We prepare and publish an annual collection of the best works of young scholars (under the support of “Tkuma” Institute joint project with Yad Vashem). We develop multimedia collections of creative works. We engage the best JAS scholarly to “Tkuma” Institute international projects. We conduct consultations for students on how to write research works on history. We took part in organization and conduction of JAS Contest together with Oles Honchar Dnipro National University. However, simply speaking we try to help JAS and its representatives – Natalia Tiahlo, Head of JAS Regional Department, and Svitlana Kaiuk, Associate Professor – as much as possible.

On September 20, 2017, participants of the workshop visited Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” and joined guided tour, conducted by Dr. Denys Shatalov, Deputy Head of Museum Research Department. Later within the round-table together with Dr. Igor Shchupak, participants learned about “Tkuma” Institute educational programs. Dr. Denys Shatalov also presented collection of research works by Dnipro JAS students and multimedia manual prepared by “Tkuma: Institute.
