On December 12, the Tkuma Institute, together with the Odessa Academy of Continuing Education of the Odessa Regional Council, held a pedagogical seminar for history teachers of the city and region (combined live and online). The seminar discussed topical issues of teaching history within the framework of the “New Ukrainian School” reform, the introduction of an integrated Ukrainian-centric history course, and the study of history in centers.
The lecture-discussion was conducted by Dr. Igor Shchupak. The actualization of teaching the subject was shown on examples of Ukrainian and Jewish history, from the battle of David with Goliath and its symbolic meaning for subsequent and current events of the war, to the Holocaust and other genocides.
The seminar also presented the CURRICULUM “HISTORY OF THE HOLOCAUST” for senior classes of secondary education institutions; the authors of which are Dr. Igor Shchupak and Dr. Viacheslav Mayorsky, the staff of the Odesa Academy, a participant in the seminar.
