PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

On May 23-28, 2016 on the base of Jewish Museum Berlin educational seminar was conducted the event was organized by “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies, Jewish Museum Berlin and Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” under the support of General Consulate of Germany in Ukraine. Museum educators, history teachers and educators of different institutions of Ukraine became the participants of the event.

During the workshop, educators could also visit Jewish Museum, the German Historical Museum, the Museum “Topography of Terror”, and The House of Wannsee Conference; they discovered European approaches to design of museum exhibits and learnt about the methodology of educational programs on the base of museum.

The main focus was on familiarization with exhibitions and experiences of museums in organizing and conducting workshops for pupils, students and adults. Each of these museums conducts large number of lessons, seminars, workshops, publishes educational and methodical literature presented to our participants from Ukraine.

Within the framework of the seminar “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum educators – Dr. Iegor Vradiy, Maryna Strilchuk and Dr. Denys Shatalov presented educational and scientific activities of both institutions. They explained the concept of The Holocaust Museum, shared experience in the field of educational activities, presented international projects for pupils and students annually carried out by “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum. The presentation aroused interest among the participants and staff of the Jewish Museum Berlin, who took an active part in the discussion and expressed the wish for further cooperation.
