In August 18, 2018 Wisla city (Republic of Poland) welcomed International educational summer camp “Respecting the Resistance – Unrecognized Acts of the Jewish Resistance during the Holocaust”. The event is annually co-organized by “Drzewo Oliwne” Community (Republic of Poland) and “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies.
This year the seminar was joined by youth from Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, Czech Republic and Israel. The rich program provides an interesting lecture course and interactive presentations, dedicated mainly to the Resistance to Nazism during the Holocaust, as well as a series of educational guided tours to the territories of Cieszyn Silesia.

Aril 20-24, 2018, Vinnytsia hosted the 20th historical tournament for young historians, organized by Institute of Educational Content Modernization with participation of “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies.
Debates between the participating teams were held in the form of a free discussion, organized by traditional game rules. The subject of the topics was quite diverse: from the problems of the Middle Ages to issues relating to recent history. Students showed profound knowledge on World War II and the Holocaust history, considering the problem of rescuing Jews by Righteous among the Nations. Olena Ishchenko, “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum research associate, joined the jury board. The atmosphere of mutual respect, tolerance, aspiration for honest victory dominated during the event. Teams from Mykolaiv and Rivne became winners of the tournament.

April 2, 2018 Museum "Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine" welcomed senior school students from Mykolaiv school #19 and their teacher Iryna Selivalova-Zarkal. Iryna Piskariova, "Tkuma" Institute Educational Programs Coordinator, discussed with guests the importance of preserving the memory about World War II and the Holocaust, the necessity of studying and learning about different tragedies of the ХХ с.
The educational guided tour was conducted by Dr. Olena Ishchenko, "Tkuma" Institute Research Associate.

On March 29, 2018 “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum staff held special museum-educational lesson for students of the Multidisciplinary Lyceum № 99 from Zaporizhzhia. This visit to Dnipro was held on the initiative of Natalia Dordiieva, our longtime partner, history teacher.

On March 15, 2018 “Tkuma” Institute educators organized educational sessions on the Holocaust history for students of Dnipro Medical Academy. Research Associates Denys Shatalov and Mykola Bulanyi told future doctors about the tragedy of the Holocaust in Ukraine and the peculiarities of the “final solution of the Jewish question” in Dnipropetrovsk occupied by Nazis. Participants also talked about the problem of moral choice during World War II, in particular, about the attitude of different categories of the population towards the extermination of Jews: from the collaborators and “bystanders” to the Righteous among the Nations.
