November 9 – International Day Against Fascism, Racism and Antisemitism. It was established by the initiative of the UNITED International Network Against Racism, which unites over 500 organizations from 49 countries.
On the night of November 9-10, 1938, a wave of anti-Jewish actions, known as the “Crystal Night” was launched in Nazi Germany and its territories under its control. It was a massive campaign of physical violence and terror against Jews directly controlled by Nazi government of the Third Reich.

On October 29, 2017, within the framework of Zaporizhzhia Book Toloka “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies presented new editions, dedicated to the Holocaust and World War II history in Ukraine and Europe. These were – collection of documents and photographs that tell about the features of the Nazi “new order” in the occupied Ukrainian cities; scholarly monographs and collections of memoirs, educational publications and manuals on the history of “the final solution of the Jewish question” in Ukraine and the Second World War. Editions were presented by Dr. Iegor Vradii, Head of Research Department of “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum – author of Ukrainian translation of the book “Apte. Niedokończona powieść” by Piotr Głuchowski and Marcin Kowalski.

During October 19–22, 2017, Odesa welcomed International Limmud Conference. Dr. Igor Shchupak, Director of “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies and Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine”, took part in the Limmud Conference as a presenter and conducted several lectures-presentations.

On October 22, 2017 Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” celebrated the fifth anniversary! Several hundred people – residents and guests of Dnipro – came to congratulate us on the holiday. There were our longtime friends and partners as well – Valeria Lavrenko, Associate Professor of the Department of World History Dnipro National University; Yevhen Tokolov, Honored Artist of Ukraine, Head of “Prestige” Ensemble; Tetiana Khupova, the main keeper of the Dnipropetrovsk Museum of Art funds; representatives of the Dnipro Jewish community and many others.

On October 19, 2017 at the age of 63, as a result of car accident, Valentyna Beketova, Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Deputy Director of D.I. Yavornytsky Dnipro National Historical Museum, tragically died. “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum staff expresses sincere condolences to relatives and friends of Valentyna Beketova.
