PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

On April 12, 2018 “Tkuma” Institute employee Yuri Matveev as a participants of Limmud FSU delegation took part in annual “International March of the Living” in Poland, which symbolizes the victory of life over death.

Several thousand people, among whom there were public and political activists, youth and those who managed to survive the Holocaust from Poland, Ukraine, Israel, Australia, Canada, Belarus, Western Europe, Moldova and other countries, walked from the territory of the former Nazi death camp Auschwitz to the territory of Birkenau, where during the Holocaust more than 1.5 million people died.

The gateway to Auschwitz with a notorious inscription “Arbeit Macht Frei” became the starting point of the march of the living. Before the beginning of the March of the Living, Polish President Andrzej Duda and President of Israel Reuven Rivlin lit the lamps near the Wall of Death and visited the Jewish Pavilion in a former block 27 on the territory of the former Auschwitz I camp.
