On January 14, 2015 "Tkuma" Institute conducted seminar for teachers if Jewish schools from Ukraine. The topic of the seminar was "Ukraine between two wars. Nationalizm and "Jewish Question". Within the framework of the seminar Dilfuza Hlushchenko, the Museum Research Associate, conducted the guided-tour around Museum "Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine". The special attention was paid to nationalism and "Jewish question" during World War II. Dr Igor Shchupak delivered the lecture in which he told the participants about the problems of teaching World War II and the Holocaust History under the conditions of modern war against Ukraine.

On December 27 - January 5 the seminar for History teachers of Ukrainian schools, methodologists and educational programs coordinators was conducted. During the 8-day seminar participants plunged into the theory methods of World War II and the Holocaust history teaching, learned Yad Vashem practical achievements in the field and shared their teaching and research experience. Rich program included lectures and reports, "round tables" and discussions as well as guided tours.

Within the framework of the program, "Tkuma" Institute staff conducted the presentation of "Tkuma" Institute and Museum "Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine" activities. the seminar became good platform for further joint work of "Tkuma" Institute with teachers and methodologists and with Yad Vashem. The event inspired teachers for new educational projects that will be implemented in cooperation with Institute.


On November 26, Methodical seminar “Peculiarities of teaching World War II and the Holocaust History in Conditions of Current War Against Ukraine” took place at Regional Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education in Kirovohrad.

Jury Mytrofanenko, assistant professor of the department of theory and methods of secondary education, invited Dr. Igor Shchupak, Director of “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies and Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine”, and Iryna Piskariova, “Tkuma” Institute and the Museum Educational Programs Coordinator.

On November 21 – 23, educational seminar “Research”, organized by “Sokhnut” took place. Seminar provided for travelling by the steps of Jewish life in Dnipropetrovsk, Novomoskovsk and Kryvyi Rih.

Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” and “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies workers have joined the realization of the seminar program.

The tour included visiting museums and memorial places. “Research” of Dnipropetrovsk included a visit to Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” and a tour around Jewish places. Both tours were held by Valentyn Rybalka, Research Associate of the Museum and “Tkuma” Institute. In Novomoskovsk the organizers had planned the commemoration ceremony and the visit to local museum. Valentyn Rybalka and Kostyantyn Meshko, Novomoskovsk Museum Worker and active participant of “Tkuma” Institute programs, described the history of Jews in Novomoskovsk. The last place for the researchers to visit was Kryvyi Rih. Svitlana Piddubna, Head of Regional Educational Programs of “Tkuma” Institute, held the tour around Mykhailo Marmer Museum. Moreover, the seminar participants have visited places of Jewish executions in Kryvyi Rih.

On October 15, 2014 "Tkuma" Institute in cooperation with Dnipropetrovsk Regional Institute of Advanced Teacher Training conducted the regular pedagogical seminar for history teachers..

The event gathered History teachers of Dnipropetrovsk region secondary schools. Within the framework of the seminar "Tkuma" Institute staff conducted the lecture on the peculiarities of teaching the Holocaust history, guided tour around Museum "Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine and discussed educational potential of museum lessons, features of their structure and methodology of conduction.
