PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

On January 19-20, 2017 Kyiv hosted All-Ukrainian seminar for history teachers organized by “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum and dedicated to International Holocaust Remembrance day.

Dr. Igor Shchupak, Director of “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum, presented Yad Vashem educational projects for teachers. Then video conference with Noa Sigal, curator of the project from Yad Vashem International School, was conducted. She got acquainted with the participants and learnt about their expectations of the workshop.

Dr. Valeria Lavrenko, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of History of Oles Honchar Dnipro National University, spoke about the experience of popularizing science among young people. In particular, she paid special attention to informal events such as scholarly picnics, quests, etc.

Dr. Anzhela Helbak, Associate Professor of pedagogy, psychology and correctional education of Kirovohrad Regional Institute of Advanced Teacher Training, presented topic of behavioral strategies in concentration camps.

The next day educators participated in the grand opening of the exhibition dedicated to Nobel Prize winner Elie Wiesel, organized by Limmud FSU, Embassy of Israel in Ukraine, Israeli Cultural Center in Kyiv, “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies.
