PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

On February 17, Dr. Igor Shchupak held an online lecture for students at the Ukrainian Catholic University. The meeting was dedicated to the topic “Ukrainian Righteous Among the Nations and Other Rescuers of Jews during the Holocaust: Historical Sources."

At the beginning of the event, the lecturer thanked the director of the Institute of Religion and Society of UCU, Dr. Roman Nazarenko, for the invitation, noting the high level of the university's academic community. During the lecture, various historical sources were discussed that help researchers recreate the stories of the rescue of Jews during the Holocaust. Students had the opportunity to learn about archival documents, eyewitness accounts, and oral history materials that allow reconstructing the fates and motivations of people who saved Jews, risking their own lives.

“It was especially pleasant to meet with students who had previously participated in the Tkuma Institute's programs and partnership initiatives, the lecturer noted. Among them, for example, is Daryna Kolmyk, a participant in the Ukrainian-Polish-Jewish-Crimean Tatar project “Ark”, and other students involved in the Institute's educational programs.”.

Such meetings contribute to the development of dialogue between scholars and students, as well as deepen knowledge about the history of the Holocaust, the culture of remembrance, and examples of human solidarity and courage in times of mass violence.
