On February 24, 2016 Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” and “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies welcomed the group of Russian journalists within the framework of “See Ukraine with You own Eyes” Project. Through this project, public figures, journalists, bloggers from the Russian Federation have the opportunity to look at the modern Ukraine not through TV screens but directly visiting it. The meeting, attended by activists from Vologda, Kirov, Moscow, Samara, St. Petersburg and other Russian cities became the sixth one in the project.
The guests attended the guided tour around the Holocaust Museum, held by Dr. Yegor Vradiy, the Museum Research Associate. In addition to the halls dedicated to the history and culture of the Jewish people, visitors had the opportunity to see new section of the exhibition “The Tragedies of the Twentieth Century” devoted to the events Euromaidan, Revolution of dignity, ATO and Russian aggression against Ukraine.
After the tour Russian activists met the Museum and “Tkuma” Institute staff. Dr. Igor Shchupak, “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum Director, told about how historical myths function and how they are spreading in society and media space. The meeting was joined by Yuri Fomenko, volunteer and ATO fighter, who repeatedly faced with the presence of Russian soldiers in Donbas.
