PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

On September 11, 2016 opening of the exhibition dedicated to the Holodomor in 1932–1933 was conducted at Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine”. The exhibition was created by our Museum and “Tkuma” Institute in cooperation with The Holodomor Ukrainian Research Center (Kyiv).

Opening of the exhibition gathered Dr. Igor Shchupak, “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum Director; Shmuel Kaminezki, Chief Rabbi of Dnipro city and region; Prof. Lyudmyla Hrynevych, Holodomor Ukrainian Research Center Director (Kyiv, Ukraine), Valentyna Kuryliv, Director of Education Direction of Holodomor Research and Education Consortium at the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies (Toronto, Canada); Iryna Reva, journalist, publicist, Alex Pol Institute Research Associate; Dr. Svitlana Kayuk, Associate Professor of History of Ukraine at Dnipro National University and other famous Ukrainian scholars and public activists.

The new exhibition contains artifacts, documents and photos describing preconditions of the Holodomor, compulsory withdrawal of grain, Ukrainian resistance to policy of collectivization of agriculture (in particular, we provide information about the uprising Pavlohrad in 1930). Also the exhibition reflects fate of Jews and members of other ethnic minorities – victims of Stalinist crimes.
