PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

"Tkuma" Institute has experience in organization and conduction of educational events for school and university students, school teachers. In cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, regional institutes of advanced teacher training, "Tkuma" Institute organized special system of seminars for improvement of teachers' skills.

"Tkuma" Institute has unique experience in creating textbooks. School History textbooks created by "Tkuma" Institute won All-Ukrainian State Contests and were released in hundreds of thousands of copies.

"Tkuma" Institute effectively cooperates with regional office of Junior Academy of Sciences. On the base of "Tkuma" Institute winter and summer sessions of JAS are conducted. During this events school students have an opportunity to work with the Holocaust museum holdings, consult the Institute and Museum research associates and meet famous Ukrainian and foreign scholars.

On April 26 and 27, 2018 Zhytomyr and Rivne hosted pedagogical seminars on the Holocaust History, organized by “Tkuma” Institute in cooperation with partners. Together with Zhytomyr Regional Institute of Advanced Teacher Training, the regional seminar was conducted having gathered about fifty teachers from Zhytomyr city and region. Together with Rivne Regional Institute of Advanced Teacher Training, regional and city seminars for history teachers were conducted. The educational sessions were held by Dr. Igor Shchupak, director of “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum.

On April 25, 2018, “Tkuma” Institute hosted regional seminar for methodologists of History and Law of methodological services of the region and heads of city, district and territorial methodological associations of History and Law. The educational event was organized by Dnipro Academy of Continuous Education under the support of “Tkuma” Institute, the Holocaust Museum, Dniprovsky Art House and others.

Aril 20-24, 2018, Vinnytsia hosted the 20th historical tournament for young historians, organized by Institute of Educational Content Modernization with participation of “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies.

Debates between the participating teams were held in the form of a free discussion, organized by traditional game rules. The subject of the topics was quite diverse: from the problems of the Middle Ages to issues relating to recent history. Students showed profound knowledge on World War II and the Holocaust history, considering the problem of rescuing Jews by Righteous among the Nations. Olena Ishchenko, “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum research associate, joined the jury board. The atmosphere of mutual respect, tolerance, aspiration for honest victory dominated during the event. Teams from Mykolaiv and Rivne became winners of the tournament.

 

On April 16-17, 2018 “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum staff visited educational institutions of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. During the first day Iryna Piskariova, Educational Programs Coordinator, conducted educational session for the 5th grade students of Sloviansk secondary school # 11, while Valentyn Rybalka, the Holocaust Museum Research Associate, presented mobile exhibition banners for the 10th grade students and Mykola Bulanyi, Educational Programs Coordinator Assistant, held commemorative lesson for the 8th grade students on preserving the memory of World War II and the Holocaust.

April 18, 2018 “Tkuma” Institute, Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” and Dnipro Academy of Continuing Education organized regular regional seminar. History and Law Teachers visited the Museum (guided tour was conducted by Dr. Olena Ishchenko, research associate), talked with Iryna Piskariova, “Tkuma” Institute Educational Programs Coordinator and Dr. Igor Shchupak, received scholarly and methodological literature.
