During the “Publishers' Forum”, which took place in Lviv on October 3-6, 2024, “Tkuma” Institute took part in a number of discussions and presentations devoted to the history of genocides and wars, historical memory, and the reform of historical education in Ukraine. Among them:
- Discussion “Wars in Ukraine and Israel from a diplomatic and political point of view”. Participants in the discussion: deputy director of “Tkuma” Institute, Dr. Yehor Vradii; journalist, writer, publicist Vitaly Portnikov; Dr. Igor Shchupak. Moderator: author, cultural manager and expert in international communication and human rights Olga Mukha. The wars in Ukraine and Israel last year attracted considerable attention of the international community. With both wars still unresolved, participants discussed the political and diplomatic implications of the wars and the future of each country and what each can learn from each other at this crucial time.

- Award ceremony of the “Ukrainian-Jewish Encounter” 2024.
The prize is awarded every year for the most influential work of fiction and non-fiction literature (in 2024 – non-fiction), which promotes Ukrainian-Jewish understanding, helping to strengthen the position of Ukraine as a multi-ethnic society, and embodies the motto “Our stories are incomplete without each other.” The event was held with the participation of Ukrainian writer Yurii Skira, whose book “Solid. The Shoe Factory of Life” received the 2024 award. The ceremony was moderated by Ukrainian journalist, public figure, historian and translator Andrii Pavlyshyn.

- Discussion “Reform of school historical education of Ukraine: challenges of the war and a look into the future”.
The participants of the discussion panel were educators and scientists, co-authors of the “Conceptual foundations of the reform of historical education”: Prof. Konstantyn Bakhanov, Prof. Ludmila Hrynevych, Raisa Yevtushenko, Dr. Maryan Mydryi, Roman Pastushenko, Dr. Igor Shchupak. During the discussion, topical issues regarding the expected changes in school history education, their importance and further steps of their implementation were discussed.
- Presentation of new publications about Ukrainian-Jewish relations “Ukrainian-Jewish Encounter” (UJE) and “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies.
- Discussion “Genocides in the history of humanity and Ukraine: memory, memorialization, challenges of modernity”.

The panel discussion was devoted to the discussion of the nature of genocides in the history of mankind – from biblical times, Darfur, the tragedy of Baby Yar as a worldwide symbol of the Holocaust, to the genocidal practices of Russia in the modern war against Ukraine, as well as rethinking the culture of remembering mass genocides under the influence of problems and challenges today.
