PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

During February 5-11, 2017 International seminar on the Holocaust for Ukrainian educators was conducted on the base of Yad Vashem International School in Jerusalem. The group, which included heads of departments of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, university professors, members of scientific institutions, methodologists and teachers had the opportunity to get acquainted with the methods of work of one of the world’s leading centers for the Holocaust research and teaching.

Yad Vashem staff members Noa Sigal, Olha Diuk, Masha Pollak-Rizenberg, Anna Rinenberg and others presented the work of the educational complex. Participants also had an opportunity to talk to Maria Bihunova – a person who as a teenager survived the horrors of the Holocaust in the Vinnytsia region. Participants also joined the ceremony of awarding the honorary title of Righteous Among the Nations.

The seminar also included the possibility to get acquaintance with the history and culture of Israel. The participants visited the Old City of Jerusalem, the Knesset of Israel, traveled to the Western Wall tunnels and the Dead Sea, examined the remains of the ancient fortress of Masada in the Judean Desert.
