On November 15, as part of the Global Day of Jewish Learning, Dr. Igor Shchupak's online lecture “Human Dignity in Inhumane Conditions” was held. Together with the lecturer, the participants of the lecture answered the following questions:
- The Nazi system of life and human dignity destruction: do elements of the system exist today?
- Why does preserving dignity mean saving lives?
- How were the soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces told about the Holocaust?
“I illustrated the topic with the examples of the Nazi system of physical destruction of people and humiliation of human dignity,” said Dr. Shchupak. – I used the memories of the concentration camp prisoner – psychoanalyst Bruno Bettelheim, who wrote a wonderful book “Enlightened Heart”. In the conversation, I drew parallels between the degradation of dignity under totalitarian regimes – and in Soviet schools and pioneer camps, in the Soviet army, and even in modern families. "
