PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

On July 23, we at “Tkuma” Institute and Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” were pleased to meet a wonderful group of schoolchildren from Zaporizhzhia, led by our longtime friend Mykola Kolodiazhnyi (“Charity Foundation “Impulse.UA”).

Mr. Mykola is the initiator of the very important initiative creation in Zaporizhzhia – the Foundation, which aims to help children, who find themselves in difficult life circumstances. Often, they are children from single-parent or large, low-income families, families which are making relocations. Therefore, this organization tries to help them overcome life's difficulties and problems, socialize and achieve comprehensive harmonious development.

During their visit to Dnipro, the guests visited our Museum. Researcher Dr. Olena Ishchenko conducted a guided tour for them. Iryna Piskarova, the head of “Tkuma” Institute educational programs, told the students about the projects (including international ones) which children will be able to participate in.

Dr. Igor Shchupak conducted an interactive lesson on propaganda in Nazi Germany and the mechanisms of its formation in general: what is dehumanization? How was the image of the enemy formed in Nazi Germany? What are the ways and mechanisms of propaganda? What is anti-Semitism and Ukrainophobia? This is only an incomplete list of issues that were actively discussed with students during the lesson.

And then Valentyn Rybalka, the Museum’s researcher conducted a sightseeing guided tour around the city. Thank you for your wonderful smart eyes, curiosity and thirst for new knowledge! We hope that this is not the last visit of Mr. Mykola and his schoolchildren to Dnipro, and our cooperation will definitely continue.
