PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

On March 28, 2018, “Tkuma” Institute, the Holocaust Museum in cooperation with Dnipro Academy of Continuing Education held regular pedagogical seminar. The event gathered teachers from Dnipropetrovsk region.

After the guided tour through the Holocaust Museum, conducted by Dr. Iegor Vradii, Head of Museum and Research Department, teachers met Dr. Igor Shchupak and discussed the problems of reforming the school education system in Ukraine as well as changes in educational curricula on history.

Dr. Igor Shchupak presented his new world history textbook for the 10th grade students, which is taking part in this year’s textbook competition.

Its features -

- modern approaches to the known historical events and phenomena, and new models of history (for example, “Thirty Years War” of the 20th c.”);

-  special system for explaining concepts and presenting factual material;

- maximum use of images instead of text (because modern youth has “clip thinking”);

- multimedia;

- methodological novelties – such as “historical interviews” with well-known historians of our time, and so on.
