PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

During October 07–10, the International conference “Limmud Ukraine” was held in Lviv. Liudmyla Kozina, deputy head on psychological and pedagogical work of “Tkuma” Institute and Dr. Igor Shchupak were invited to participate in a large-scale program as lecturers-presenters.

Liudmyla Kozina gathered a full audience at her class, during which they talked about aggression and what it means to be an aggressor in various spheres of life and activity.

During his lecture Dr. Shchupak “Jews in history and the history of Jews: what is important / allowed / should be known to Ukrainian schoolchildren” where the special attention was paid to the reflection of topics on the history of World War II and the Holocaust in school history textbooks, the peculiarities of its study. Lecture-conversation “By the footsteps of the last expedition: what you can learn today about the events of World War II and the Holocaust” was devoted to oral history. In particular, the lecturer told about the results of the search expedition “Tkuma” Institute and Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine”, which was organized together with partners-historians, educators and enthusiasts in August this year. During their visit to Odesa oblast, a significant number of interviews were recorded with eyewitnesses to the events of World War II and the Holocaust, including the Righteous Among the Nations and their families.

Presentation of projects and book publications of “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum; negotiations on the implementation of promising projects with new partners were also held within the frameworks of the conference.
