On September 12, 2017 the course of lectures “Jews and Ukrainians: a Millennium of Co-Existence” by Yohanan Petrovsky-Shtern is completed. During the 8 interactive lectures, the participants were getting acquainted with Jewish history, learned new interesting facts about Ukrainian-Jewish relations in the early modern and new times, learned to analyze sources and raise questions.
During the closing of the course, the participants received official certificates.
We offer you some feedback from listeners of the lectures:
Ilona Vardanian, 2nd year student, Faculty of History, Dnipro National University
“This is the best lecturer I’ve been listening to for my short student life. Yohanan Petrovsky-Shtern is able to provoke interest among the public. I looked at the relations between Ukrainians and Jews from a new perspective. We should learn and understand Jews, like every other nation living in Ukraine. We must know the history of the nations, which live with us on the same land».
Vadym Prokopov, graduate student of the Faculty of History of Dnipro National University, NGO “Institute for Public Research” employee
“Impressions are great. I was impressed by professional level of the lecturer, his ability to work with the audience, to present the material, to disclose the deep sense embodied in the sources. The course itself is interesting due to the formation of important milestones in Jewish history and culture, particularly in Ukraine. New facts about Jewish history were interesting for me”.
Stanislav Cherkasov, Associate Professor of the Department of World History and International Relations of Zaporizhzhia National University
“The course is one of the best examples of lecture presentation, which is an original combination of high lecturing skills as well as fundamental and universal erudition of a lecturer. The course was fascinating from the first until its last minute. My gratitude to the organizers!».
