PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

During October 25–30, 2016 Dr. Igor Shchupak, “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum Director, conducted lectures and presentations on Jewish and Holocaust history in Toronto. The events were organized in cooperation with Jewish and Ukrainian NGOs of Canada.

Lectures and presentations were devoted to historical memory about the Holocaust, World War II, and Babyn Yar tragedy; special attention is paid to the topic of forming a quasi-religion “Great Patriotic War”. Sessions included presentation of editions released to the 75th anniversary of Babyn Yar tragedy: book by Prof. P-R. Magocsi and Prof. Y. Petrovsky-Shtern “Jews and Ukrainians: A Millennium of Co-Existence” and “Babyn Yar” (edited by Prof. P-R. Magocsi and Prof. V. Hrynevych).

On October 28, 2016 Igor Shchupak participated in the record of TV programs for ECG Limited, RTVi. Among the topics discussed – World War II and current aggression of Russia against Ukraine, issue of Ukrainian national idea and national hero, Stepan Bandera and Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky.
