PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

"Tkuma" Institute has experience in organization and conduction of educational events for school and university students, school teachers. In cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, regional institutes of advanced teacher training, "Tkuma" Institute organized special system of seminars for improvement of teachers' skills.

"Tkuma" Institute has unique experience in creating textbooks. School History textbooks created by "Tkuma" Institute won All-Ukrainian State Contests and were released in hundreds of thousands of copies.

"Tkuma" Institute effectively cooperates with regional office of Junior Academy of Sciences. On the base of "Tkuma" Institute winter and summer sessions of JAS are conducted. During this events school students have an opportunity to work with the Holocaust museum holdings, consult the Institute and Museum research associates and meet famous Ukrainian and foreign scholars.

During June 23–26, summer school for student members of Dnipropetrovsk department of Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was held in Chornomorsk (Odesa region). “Tkuma” Institute and Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” were invited to participate in the implementation of the educational part of the program.

On June 05-06, International seminar for history teachers “The Holocaust by bullets in the occupied territories of the Soviet Union” was held in Paris (France). Yahad-In Unum (France), “Tkuma” Institute and Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” were the organizers of the educational project.

On June 05, history teachers and teachers of vocational schools from Poltava region visited “Tkuma” Institute and Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine”. Educational seminar, which consisted of a rich curriculum, was organized for them. Educators had an opportunity to get acquainted with educational and scientific work of “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum, development opportunities for teachers and school children, as well as our educational and methodological publications on the Holocaust history. Dr. Olena Ishenko, researcher of the Holocaust Museum conducted guided tour, focusing on the educational possibilities of the museum.

On May 16, at Anna Lebedeva, a teacher and a scientist invitation with Lyceum of new information technologies №2 (Kamianske) Dr. Igor Shchupak, director of “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum held a lesson on the history for students of 10th grade. The discussed the Holocaust and World War II history in Ukraine, about the Soviet memory model on “Great Patriotic War”, the importance of preserving the memory of our past tragic pages.

On May 14, 2019 seminar for history teachers of the region and the city was held in Sumy at the invitation of friends and colleagues, prof. Yurii Nikitin, rector, of Sumy Institute of postgraduate pedagogical education and Iryna Nikitina, history teachers, methodologists at Sumy Institute of postgraduate pedagogical education. Educators had an opportunity to communicate with Dr. Igor Shchupak and to consider a number of questions about new standards of education, curricula, history textbooks and new/old problems of historical education; particular attention was paid to World War II and the Holocaust history teaching peculiarities. Presentation of new textbooks for the 6th grades (authors I. Shchupak, I. Piskarova, O. Burlaka) and for the 11th grades (I. Shchupak) was held within the frameworks of the seminar.
