On April 21, historical webinar, dedicated to the Yom Ha-Shoah and organized as part of “Tkuma” Institute, Federation of Jewish Communities and Yad Vashem “Holocaust studies in Ukraine for the formation the atmosphere of tolerance” joint project was held. Topic of the webinar – “The Holocaust and Righteous among the Nations”.
The conversation was held with the participation of Dr. Yehor Vradii, member of the Ukrainian-Polish commission of experts in history and geography textbooks, author of scientific works on the Holocaust history, deputy head of “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies, Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” and Dr. Igor Shchupak, honored educator of Ukraine, member of the Ukrainian-German and Ukrainian-Polish historical commissions, author of scientific works on the Holocaust history and history textbooks for 5-11 grades, director of “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies, Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine”.
During the historical webinar, the following questions were discussed: why should we study the Holocaust? Are there any common things in the Holocaust, the Holodomor and other genocides? What urged the Ukrainians who risked their lives and the lives of their relatives to rescues the Jews during the Holocaust? Righteous among the Nations and Rescue: the stories of feat and betrayal.
