On December 10, the next educational seminar for history teachers of Dnipropetrovsk region organized together with Dnipro Academy of Continuing Education and Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” was held at “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for |Holocaust Studies.
The following rich program waited for the teachers:
- guided tour at Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine”, held by researcher Vladyslav Bazylevskyi;
- acquaintance with the educational and scientific activities of “Tkuma” Institute and Museum, development opportunities for teachers and students. Iryna Piskarova, head of «Tkuma” Institute Educational department told about educational projects for teachers and students where they can participate in – in particular, the contest of creative works “Lessons of War and Holocaust – Lessons of Tolerance”, which is organized annually together with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, – and presented the most interesting educational developments – contest members.
- Together with Dr. Igor Shchupak teachers discussed problems of modern secondary education in Ukraine, methods of encouraging students to history study. Discussed new education standards (in particular, historical) and their updates, about the implementation of Western experience (Poland, Finland) into the educational process, about academicism and gamification during history lessons. Presentation of history textbooks for students of 6 and 11 grades by the authors – Iryna Piskarova and Dr. Igor Shchupak was held within the frameworks of the seminar.
