PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

On November 3, 2016 Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” and “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies welcomed senior school pupils from Stepivska and Ulyanivska schools (Mykolayiv region). Iryna Piskariova, “Tkuma” Institute Educational Programs Coordinator, organized debate session for pupils entitled “Memory of World War II and the Holocaust in My Family”.

After telling about the fate of her relatives during the Nazi occupation of Ukraine and showing photographs of the war from family archives, she suggested students try to answer such question as: What was the fate of your relatives during World War II? Did they take part in military operations at the front line? How did they manage to evacuate? How did they live after war? Do you have family documents or photos made during the war? Schoolchildren actively participated in the discussion of these issues and stressed the importance of preserving the family memory of World War II and the Holocaust.

After the session participants joined the guided tour around Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine”.
