According to the decree of the President of Ukraine №241/2018 as of 23.08.2018, Igor Shchupak, director of “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies and Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” is awarded the honorary title “The Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine”.
Congratulations to Igor Shchupak on the recognition of his many years of efforts in the field of education and wish him new awards!

On August 01, 2018, “Tkuma” Institute and Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” welcomed director of Berdiansk Local History Museum, Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine, member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine Liudmyla Nozdrina. During the meeting with “Tkuma” Institute staff the possibilities of establishing cooperation were discussed, in particular – the organization of a joint publishing project on the history of Jews Berdiansk. The exchange of literature is arranged and scholarly and museum cooperation is planned.

On August 2, the world commemorates the victims of the genocide of the Roma. On the night of 2 to 3 August 1944, 2 897 of Roma were killed in gas chambers of the Nazi death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.

On July 25, 2018, group of undergraduate students of University of Potsdam Faculty of Arts visited Dnipro city. The guests were invited by the deputy of the city council Asher Cherkaskyi. The group was led by Dr. Vitali Vilenchyk (Institute of History, University of Potsdam) and Dr. Olaf Glöckner (The Moses Mendelssohn Center). The main purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the history and present of Jews in Ukraine, find out how the memory of the Holocaust is preserved and supported in our state and how different national and socio-cultural groups interact with each other.
