On February 3, 2019 Yurii Gorulev Belarusian film-maker who created dozens of documentary films visited Museum «Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine» and «Tkuma” Institute.
In 2015, the world saw documentary film «Trostianets», dedicated to the tragedy of concentration camp prisoners in the outskirts of Minsk.
The same year, Belarusian film-maker presented his new work – «The book of curse. Benjamin’s Berkovich diary», devoted to the history of Navahrudakghetto (currently Belarus). The documentary film defines one of the ghetto prisoner’s diary text. These writings were found in one of the Polish archives in 2004. Benjamin’s Berkovich text is one of the voices of the past, which tells about the terrible tragedy of NavahrudakJews – the city of Grodno region. In general, about 10 thousand people were killed by the Nazis in this place.
During two months from March 31, 2019 “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies, Museum «Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine» will be honored to present the film «The book of curse. Benjamin’s Berkovich diary» one of the first not only in Ukraine, but also in Europe, as well as become a platform for discussion with a Belarusian film-maker. "It is important that thanks to Yurii Gorulev creativity, Konstantin Taratuta and Oleksandr Larin perseverance and support we will be able to realize our moral duty to Benjamin’s Berkovich and hundreds of thousands other Nazi genocide victims – do not let to ignore and forget their tragedy", - noted Dr. Igor Shchupak.
