On November 15, Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” welcomed opening of the exhibition “For Our and Your Freedom 1968–2018”, devoted to the 50^th anniversary of the dissidents’ manifestations in defense of the Prague Spring. Welcoming speeches was made by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Irzhi Havlychek, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Czech Republic Radek Matula, city mayor’s advisor and member of the board of the Dnipro Jewish community Oleh Rostovtsev, head of the Research Department of the Holocaust Museum Dr. Denys Shatalov.

The exhibition was created on the basis of unique documents and photographs found in the archives of the Czech Republic and Ukraine, and is devoted to the fate of those people who, despite the threat of imprisonment, protested against the suppression of the Prague Spring by the Soviet Union, supported the convicted members of the resistance movement, organized student strikes and distributed leaflets. Among the Ukrainians who protested against the occupation of Czechoslovakia there were, in particular, Vasyl Makukh, Roman Hryn, Mykhailo Likhtsov, Zoryan Popadyuk and many others.

The exhibition is organized by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ukraine, Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes (Czech Republic); The Czech Center in Kyiv; Branch State Archive of the Security Service of Ukraine; Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance with the support of “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies and the Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine”.
