On September 20-22, the Final event of the jubilee XX International Contest of creative works for school and university students, postgraduate and teachers "Lessons of War and Holocaust - Lessons of Tolerance", organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies was held online. The long existence of the event is an indicator of its success - interest in the competition grows every year. Despite the full-scale war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine and the challenges faced by every Ukrainian, this year we received more than 150 applications for participation in the competition, of which 64 made it to the Finals.
"There are few educational, creative Contests that have been held for decades. Unfortunately, it happens when we consider the wars and genocides of the past through the prism of the tragedy of the present, said Dr. Igor Shchupak during the opening of the Final of the COntest. - Therefore, it was with special feelings that he participated in the opening of our jubilee, 20th competition of creative works. It is incredible how talented Ukrainian youth are, and how acutely they perceive the tragedy of the Holodomor, the Holocaust, the genocide of the Roma, the deportation of the Crimean people - and the modern genocide of the Ukrainian people, organized and carried out by the authorities and the army of the Russian Federation."
Contest participants presented a variety of creative works: historical research, artistic and musical expositions, amateur films, methodological developments. Selected works will be presented in publications of "Tkuma" Institute.
Congratulations to the winners!
