International Museum Day traditionally falls on the third Saturday of May. The Jewish Museum on this day cannot work, that’s why we joined the celebration of the Museum Day on Sunday, May 19th.

May 19th – Victims of Political Repressions Remembrance Day. This date in Ukraine is a day of mourning. Also, the topic of political violence is an integral part of the of our Museum exhibition. The thematic focus of our Museum excludes the possibility of entertaining activities. That’s why, we offered to our visitors a number of interesting educational events to the International Museum Day.

On May 07, solemn events dedicated to the anniversary of World War II end and victory over Nazi Germany were held in “Menorah” Center. The holiday in honor of World War II veterans was organized by the charity foundation «Hesed Menachem» with the support of «Joint».

On May 07, Commemoration Ceremony organized by the Israeli Cultural Center and dedicated to Yom HaZikaron – Memorial Day for the Fallen Soldiers of Israel and Victims of Terrorism was held in Dnipro. This day is celebrated every year on the eve of the Independence Day of Israel. Viacheslav Smotkin, second secretary of Embassy of Israel, director of the Israeli cultural center in Dnipro, Shmuel Kaminetzki, chief rabbi of Dnipro and the region, Raffael Heltzer, head of «Sohnut-Ukraine» office in Dnipro, Oleh Rostovtsev, city mayor's adviser, Dr. Igor Shchupak, director of "Tkuma" Institute and the Holocaust Museum made a speeches at the Ceremony. Oleksandr Fridkis, head of religious community affairs read the memorial prayer.

 

On May 02, Dnipro joined to the Holocaust remembrance ceremony dedicated to Yom HaShoah (The Day of the Catastrophe and the heroism of European Jewry). Thanks to «Nativ» Israeli Cultural Center and its head – Viacheslav Smotkin, second secretary Embassy of Israel in Ukraine, Dnipro Jewish Community and its rabbi

On April 04–05, annual scientific and practical conference "Zaporizhzhia Jewish Readings - 2019" was held in Zaporizhzhia at Zaporizhzhia National University. «Tkuma» Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies, Museum «Jewish memory and Holocaust in Ukraine» and Zaporizhzhia National University became the organizers of the event.
