On November 17, a series of educational events dedicated to Global Day of Jewish Learning, which celebrates more than 500 Jewish communities, 40 countries and 6 continents this year was held in Dnipro. The topic of the education program was: “In a world of words, speeches and meanings”.
During the whole day, interesting lectures, masterclasses, cognitive lessons for children, as well as a Fair of Jewish Organizations were waiting for everyone at “Menorah” Center. "Tkuma" Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies and Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” participated in the implementation of Global Day of Jewish Learning education program together with many Jewish organizations of Dnipro.
Lecture “The changing reality – new meanings and representations. How to live with this in harmony” was held at “Tkuma” Institute. Oleh Rostovtsev – journalist, cultural scientist, Dnipro Jewish Community Press-center head, producer and host of “Alef” television program held a lecture, which caused listeners considerable interest,
An interactive lesson on “The words from which the world is built: why words, concepts are important; how to learn to formulate terms in any science and how it can help in learning”, held by Dr. Igor Shchupak. What the word Logos means? What to do if you forgot (did not understand or did not know) the meaning of terms and concepts? How to learn to formulate it, and not only in history? Interesting ways of knowing, learned to formulate the concepts of “graphical method”, “alien method”, “anecdote method” and many other were discussed during the lecture.
And at the end of the day, a lottery was held, during which the lucky ones had the opportunity to receive books – the most valuable gifts for Global Day of Jewish Learning.
