On August 23, 2017 during a working trip Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Lilia Hrynevych has visited Dnipro. The Minister took part in August Conference of pedagogical workers of Dnipro region, which was held in cultural and business center “Menorah”.
The conference was opened with welcoming speeches by Kamil Primakov, Deputy Head of Dnipro Regional State Administration; Oleksii Poltoratskyi, Director of the Department of Education and Science of Dnipro RSA; Dr. Iegor Vradii, Head of Research and Museum Department of “Tkuma” Ukrainian Institute for Holocaust Studies.
After the conference, during which the educators had the opportunity to directly communicate with the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine in the format of “open microphone”, Lilia Hrynevych and the conference guests visited Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine”. The Minister highlighted the originality of its concept, uncommonness of methods and approaches the Holocaust Museum uses to invite visitors talk about the dramatic experience of mankind, associated with the tragedies of the Holocaust, the Holodomor, deportations. The value of human life, mercy, and respect should be the cornerstone of education in Ukraine. That is why the activities of similar museum and educational institutions as the Holocaust Museum in Dnipro, which still has no analogues in Ukraine, is critically important.
At the end of the visit, Lilia Hrynevych got acquainted with the latest innovations of scholarly literature, published by “Tkuma” Institute. The Minister paid special attention to the first volume of the collective monograph “The Holocaust in Ukraine”, co-authored by Dr. Igor Shchupak, Director of the Holocaust Museum and “Tkuma” Institute.
