During March 1-2, 2017 Dnipro hosted the 1st All-Ukrainian Scholarly and Practical Conference “Jewish Heritage and Modernity”, organized by “Beit Chana” International Humanitarian and Pedagogical Institute, “Tkuma” Institute, Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine and others. The conference was aimed at discussing new scholarly and practical results in various directions of Jewish studies.
The conference was opened by Dr. Rima Aronova, Rector of “Beit Chana” International Humanitarian and Pedagogical Institute; Shmuel Kaminezki, Chief Rabbi of Dnipro city and region; Zhanna Koshkina, Chief Specialist of Department of Content of Education, Language Policy and Education of National Minorities run by Department of General Secondary and Pre-School Education of MESU; Dr. Natalia Bakulina, Senior Research Associate of Department of Department of Education on Languages and Literature of National Minorities run by the Institute of Pedagogy of Ukraine.
Valentyn Rybalka and Maryna Strilchuk, “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum Research Associates, delivered lectures within the section “Cultural Life and History of Jewish Communities”. The conference program included guided tour through the Holocaust Museum exhibition conducted by Iryna Radchenko and presentation of educational projects of “Tkuma” Institute for teachers and school and university students conducted by Iryna Piskariova.
Conference proceedings will be published in “Jewish Knowledge” scholarly and practical yearbook on humanities as well as in the annex – “Chinuch” (“Education”) Pedagogical Almanac.
