On January 13, “Tkuma” Institute, together with “Orion” Educational and Cultural Center, held an online event from a series of seminars for history teachers. This time, an online meeting was held between Dr. Igor Shchupak and Dr. Yehor Vradii with history teachers from the city of Brovary and other settlements in the Kyiv region.
The seminar discussed current issues of the reform of history education in Ukraine, new history curricula, as well as history textbooks for 9th grade and the profile level of 11th grade, planned for use from 2026. Attention was paid to the Ukrainian vision of the historical process and modern approaches to teaching history.
The meeting participants were introduced to the team of the “Orion” Publishing House and the authors of new textbooks for the 9th grade: “History of Ukraine”, “World History”, “Ukraine and the World”. These publications recently, by decision of the Expert Commission on Civic and Historical Education, received a recommendation for the “Recommended by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine” stamp.
In addition to educational issues, the seminar touched upon broader topics of historical science – from understanding the events of the 19th century to the significance of the historical experience of South Korea and Israel for modern Ukraine, from Napoleon's plans for Ukraine to the role of Ukrainian immigrants in the development of Canada.
“Tkuma” Institute and the “Orion” Center sincerely thank Ms. Iryna Tryzub and all participants of the meeting for the invitation and cooperation.
