PRESENTATION OF “TKUMA” INSTITUTE PUBLICATIONS  IN COOPERATION WITH THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF UKRAINE

On June 11–12, 2018, “Tkuma” Institute research associates took part in the International seminar “Pages of History and Culture of Yiddish on Ukrainian Lands”, organized in cooperation with International Yiddish Center in Vilnius and Sumy Regional Institute of Advanced Teacher Training.

Within the seminar, Valentyn Rybalka delivered report “The Holocaust and the Extermination of the Roma during World War II (Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” exhibition)”. The reports devoted to various aspects of researching and studying Yiddish culture and the analysis of Jewish literary works were made by Dr. Viktor Pohromskyi (National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy”) and Dr. Mordechai Yushkovsky (University of Jerusalem).

On the basis of secondary school № 5, Mykola Bulanyi conducted an interactive lesson using “Tkuma” Institute mobile educational exhibition, dedicated to the Holocaust and the genocide of the Roma in Ukrainian territory. Students and teachers of the school, as well as representatives of Sumy Roma community took part in the event.
