On October 19 and 21, 2015 “Tkuma” Institute for Holocaust Studies Research Associates conducted mobile exhibitions for pupils of two schools of Dnipropetrovsk. The exhibitions were devoted to two dates important for our city – mass extermination of Dnipropetrovsk Jews on October 13-14, 1941, and liberation of the city on October 25, 1943.

On October 19 mobile exhibitions were presented to the pupils of 9 and 11 forms of gymnasium. During the event Iryna Radchenko and Maryna Strilchuk, “Tkuma” Institute Research Associates, showing to children exhibition posters devoted to Dnipropetrovsk during the Nazi occupation and the Righteous among the Nations, talked with pupils about the World War II and the Holocaust, discussed the heroism of those who risked their own lives and the lives of their relatives while saving their Jewish neighbors.

On October 21 the similar event was conducted for pupils of 8-11 forms on Educational Complex # 106 by Dilfuza Hlushchenko andDenys Shatalov, with participation of journalistEster Takhterina. Talking about the horrors of the occupation and destruction that our city experienced more than 70 years ago, pupils understood that these events should not be forgotten. The war was long, but the indifference can bring it back as happened in our time in Donetsk. We cannot forget about the other thing - in any situation you should remain human, and the feats of Righteous among the Nations prove this.

The result of both exhibitions was the desire of pupils to visit Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” and learn more about the culture of Jews and their terrible fate during the Holocaust.
