On October 08, 2017 “Tkuma” Institute and the Holocaust Museum hosted commemorative lesson for school students from Mykolaiv region. The lesson was timed to the Babyn Yar Memory Day, so the focus was put on the issues of the history of the Holocaust in Ukraine and the Second World War.

Iryna Piskariova, “Tkuma” Institute Educational Programs Coordinator, told students about the history of their own family during the Second World War and in the postwar period, focusing on the importance of studying those tragic events with the help of family archives. After the talk, students went on a tour through the Holocaust Museum held by researcher associate Olena Ishchenko. In addition to the history of the “final solution of the Jewish question” in Ukraine, students were able to learn more about the pre-war history of Germany, the emergence of Nazism and the anti-Jewish policy of the Nazis in the 1930s.
